The Clinical Entry Nurse Residency Program
is a two-year program designed to provide new graduates of baccalaureate or higher degree educational programs with the opportunity to have a planned first work experience that leads to the development of the necessary skills and professional behaviors considered adequate at the competent level of nursing practice as described by Benner.

The Professional Nurse Advancement and Recognition Program
is a clinical promotion system that develops, recognizes, and rewards clinical nursing expertise.

First implemented in 1983, the program supports advancement from beginner to expert clinical practice and provides professional nurses an opportunity for career development.

Peer review boards evaluate applications for clinical advancement and select recipients for nurse recognition awards.

The Visiting Scholar Program
provides nurses at BI-Deaconess the opportunity to further develop their clinical and theoretical knowledge by interacting with an accomplished nursing scholar.

The Faculty Practice and Development Program
brings academic nurse faculty to Beth Israel Deaconess who want to maintain or renew clinical skills, fulfill requirements for certification or recertification, narrow the gap between current practice and curriculum, and identify clinical research possibilities.

The program offers faculty with full-time standing appointments in Baccalaureate or higher degree programs a preceptored clinical mini-residency consistent with their academic responsibilities. The outcomes are mutual learning and professional stimulation for faculty and clinical staff, and increased sensitivity to new developments in education and practice.

Through the Credentialling and Privileging Program of the Nursing Service, faculty associates are appointed to visiting membership on the nursing staff.

The International Visitor Program

was developed as a result of requests made by colleagues within the United States and throughout the world to learn first hand about our professional nursing practice model and the management system developed here to support care and practice. The program has evolved over the years to the extent that we have both colleague relationships and real friendships that reach around the globe.
