The Center for the Advancement of Nursing Practice

The Center for the Advancement of Nursing Practice is an innovative approach to the professional development of nurses that promotes scholarship in clinical practice.

Established in 1986, The Center is part of the continuing evolution of the professional nursing practice model that has been in place for more than 25 years.

To ensure that each patient and the public-at-large receive the professional nursing care they have a right to expect, highly qualified nurses must be motivated to stay in the mainstream of direct patient care. Their work must include opportunities to generate clinically relevant theory and research, to refine and extend the clinical knowledge embedded in practice, and to communicate these advances to the professional community and the general public.

The Center is committed to providing the structure and foundation for professional nursing practice development at BIDMC. The primary purpose of the Center is to support nursing practice development at the BIDMCbedside, and in its local, state, nationa, and international communities.
